Commenting on the status of sports coaches in the state, sports and youth welfare minister Vishwas Sarang admitted in the House on Monday that there is no regular coach for coaching in any sport in Madhya Pradesh, as of now.
In a written reply to a question by Atif Aqueel of Congress, he said that 104 posts of technical experts of categories A, B, C, D and E are sanctioned for various sports academies, which are run in his department. Two coaching positions with administrator, one coaching position with administrator, five assistant coaching positions with administrator, 12 assistant coaching positions and 45 player coaching positions have also been sanctioned. In addition, 81 posts of district sports coaches on contract grade 1 and 40 posts of district sports coaches grade 2 and 12 posts of malkhamb contract coaches have been sanctioned, he added.
Aqueel had demanded to know the number of posts of regular coaches which are sanctioned in the sports and youth welfare department and whether it is sufficient against states that are doing well in sports like Haryana, Maharashtra, Punjab and Chandigarh.
